in one of my books I found some data about Horst Niemack. Maybe this is of help to you:

- born 03.10.1909 in Hannover
- joined army in 1927
- teacher at the cavalery school in Hannover in 1936
- 10.01.39 head of 3rd squadron of recon dep. 5
- 04.01.40 head of recon dep. 5
- KC on 07.13.1940
- since 10.01.1941 commander of cavalary school (Kavallerielehrgruppe) in Potsdam
- 03.01.43 commander of Panzergrenadierregiment 26
- 10.15.43 commander Panzerüsilierregiment "Grossdeutschland"
- seriously wounded 10.24.44
- 02.07.45 Commander Panzer Lehrdivision
- wounded again in March 45
- spend 2 years in british PoW camp
- oak leaves (# 30) on 08.10.1941
- swords (#69) on 06.04.1944
