I like the look of the cross even though the obverse pics are not very good. The hinge, pin, catch and maker mark all look good to me.

I also like the case but wait for more replies because I am not sure about the emblem on the lid of the case. It may be fine but I am more used to seeing other cross emblems and not this style.

      best regards

War Service Cross in first class without swords. Numbering or marking "50" as shown corresponds to Leistungs Gemeinschaft Deutscher Ordenshersteller (LDO) L/50 Karl Gschiermeister-Wien. From Buntmetall. From Militaria Berlin.

But seeing as the one you have is only marked "50" then it falls under the Reichszeugmeisterrei (RZM) for short maker is Richard Sieper & Sohn, Ludenscheid.

The box I have seen before but I have not got one in my collection as most without swords would have the inner filled in and usually in silver on the black paper covering.

            My '50' Karl Gschiermeister ..

The box has the KVK 'Maltese Cross' logo filled in.

You say you have that information from Militaria Berlin? Please post the link!

The 50 being RZM related is utter nonsense ccc

The 50 marked cross is perfectly ok!

Ian, that is a stunning KVK. I've got an S&L that's almost as nice

                    Hi

You may want to post the case in the "cases and packets" forum to get additional views

                    regards
                    Graeme
