    One piece EK1 questions

    Hello folks,

I examined a one-piece EK1 yesterday. It appeared to be stamped from either brass or a brass alloy. This particular EK1 was very thick and had a coke- bottle shaped pin. However, the width of this pin was much thinner than what I normally see. Pin stamped L/13. It had a barrel hinge and wide flat wire catch.

Sorry I did not get any photos of this one.

    The questions...

    1. Has anyone examined any genuine one-piece EK1s that meet this description?

    2. What different materials were used to produce one-piece EK1s? I have heard of zinc being used. What other materials, if any, were used?

    Calvin,

I don't think I've ever seen an EK 1 like the one you describe, but I do have this one-piece example. It is identical to the cross shown on page 150 of Geissler's Das Eiserne Kreuz von 1813 bis heute. Geissler says it's made out of Buntmetall. It's vaulted.

Most L/13 s are imo fake any way let alone a one piece stamping. Dont trust it, even if it was made in 3 parts cross and 4 parts attatchement ASSy it probobly be fake any way.People to day are getting so obsessed they refuse yo believe other wise
