    EK engraved

Here is a back plate to an EKI screw back by 109 -Walter & Henlein, Gablonz that has been engraved. Can anyone tell me if it is a period piece or post-war? Thanks for your help. Jim

This the cross a always controversial pieces
//// I owe that camp who think that this is a late war time piece ////
but, this is a my opinion.

IMO this the subtitle not like to me
I think that this the subtitle not it has been given time made.

The most of the cross I have seen over the years that have been engraved was made by hand.
I don´t know what to think about your cross.

Fake engraving. Is it really an engraving? Etching?

          Yes, fake "engraving".

I believe someone is trying to kick up value and try to convince the W&H EK1 is period made. Even if no such evidence exist.

              Jim,
I'm with Sanya that these crosses are war time made. See this post for why I think so. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=572301&page=2

But the engraving looks to me like the postwar type added to a lot of items found in Poland and the Czech Republic in the modern era.

Agreed. The engraving is not original and the "patina" appears to be the result of the dirty smear shown on the right - like it was done with a dirty sponge or paper towel.
