Sanya, thank you for the information. The person I bought it from told me it was marked J and I took his word for it as the mark on this photo does look a bit like a J. But I am not too knowledgable as yet on cores and variations etc...

Sorry that the image starts to break up, I had to crop it to show the mark

Good stuff, well at least I know it is still a makers mark.

          Thank you very much

              Still a very nice cross.

Depending on what you paid for it, you might want to ask for a renegotiation...Juncker stuff - cross, badges, whatever - generally cost a bit more than other makers.

and all that dust don't have to be there. Take a very soft brush and wipe it away. It's not patina just dirt.

Cheers guys, will give it a clean over the next few days.

And it doesn't matter that it isn't a Junckers, I paid the same low price for both EK2s so I am happy

I would advise against it, but it's a personal choice. Cleaning medals and replacing ribbons reduces the value and, in many collectors' eyes, ruins the medal. Few people will buy a cleaned medal as a first choice.
                      Best regards,

The word 'claeaning', it must induce dread in every collector who reads it in a post ha!

I simply meant following the advice re brushing with a soft brush to see if any of the dust will come off.

Other than giving my zinc items a vaseline bath I rarely clean anything.

                        Cheers
