    Oakleaves Swords & Diamonds

    To All,
    I was reading this post
    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=oaks+diamonds

The poster seemed a bit unhappy that his set were not confirmed as original, I wonder why?!? I'm sure a lot of people just happen to pick up a set of diamonds.

Question I have is ; If only 27 sets were awarded are there locations not known or have some been bought and sold by private collectors over time, giving rise to the speculation on whether sets or real or not.

John, the fact that only 27 Wehrmacht recipients received the diamonds does not mean there were only 27 diamond awards made. Likewise, there were between 7,000 to 8,000 Knights Cross recipients, but the number of authentic Knights Crosses that exist is far superior to the number of recipients.

      Walter,

Thanks for the correction. I'll revise my question

Is there an exact number of diamond sets produced known?

Are the awarded pieces traceable? Are the non arwarded traceable?

Beware Swords and Diamonds were made by the original maker post war as late as the 1960s for collectors. To make things worse they are all Jeweler made and not every set is identical. Many award winners had sets made post war for gifts to friends relatives etc. Buying a set is not for me not only because of the price but because of the above mentioned. There is no way to trace the awards i.e. no serial numbers or name.
