Iron cross with screws

I just found this Iron Cross with a screw in the back.
It has no marking at the back.
I would like to know if it is vintage and why there is this screw in the back.

Can you post a better picture of the back especially the disc? Also, bigger pictures are better (get rid of the excess). Jim
