    EKII okay or no?

An Iron Cross Second Class I have owned from the 1980s. Cannot remember the provenance. A magnet sticks to it.

Any info appreciated, good/bad, maker, early/late war. Thanks and Happy New Year.

Jump ring looks very thin and that date is quite low set. What's the ring mark number?

        Ring mark number is 15.

Well, the number 15 is assigned to maker Orth in the reference list so that should make it searchable for other 15 marked EKII to compare it to.

Yours compares favourably with the one shown here from what I see.

Thanks Stu. Here is another picture, the best I can do with my camera, which only gives a general idea of the depth of the strike. 15 is not readable.

I have to admit that when you asked what the number was, I was flummoxed but noted that in one of my original pictures something was serendipitously visible on the ring. Under magnification with my loop it turned out to be the number 15.

              Thanks again.

No worries. I commented on your BWB as well. Many items, but not all, were numbered with a specific number associated to a particular maker and they are known and can be use as a starting point when researching an award.

                Regards,
                Stu
