very nice set. i found it quite interesting that schmidt who received the KC in the summer of 44' ant the OL at may 9th 1945 was awarded the much earlier types of KC as well as OL (KC 800, probably "dot" and OL 900 L/50)

or is it someone other than Major Erich Schmidt born on febr. 2nd 1911??

    regards,

    stefan

Very nice, Ben. I have the 'evil twin brother' in my collection, with the dot pattern Juncker Knight's Cross and L/50 Oak Leaves.

                Thanks for the nice comments.

It did actually burn a firm hole in my pocket, but as you can see it was worth it!

Great fake story about the knights cross with oakleaves from Detlev Niemann.

Erich Schmidt got never the oakleaves !
Erich Schmidt was in russian gulag from May 1945 - January 1950. Also his knights cross was never survived!

Juncker KC & Godet L/50 Oaks

Frankandfrank is right. The fact is that Erich Schmidt has never received the Oaks.

This great fault was not allowed to happen to an expert like Detlev Niemann.

Nevertheless the Juncker KC and Godet L/50 Oaks is really excellent set.

This is exactly the KC & Oaks set which I still looking also for my collection. Congratulations!

DN has made the exp. but didn't sell the set so he didn't have to make up a nice story.

the set came from the next-of-kin, and was bought by a good friend of mine that I have known for over 10 years now.
It came as a set, by now I know Schmidt idn't receive the oaks .
How he got them, I don't know.

A lot of recipients wore a private purchase kc, so why can't this be the kc he got awarded?
                      I have seen more then 1 group with 2 kc's, even a group with 3 kc's......

That by itself doent mean anything, it is common known that KC recepients often had more then one cross.
The Oakleaves however, is a whole different story.
Still a rare and super nice set !! Congrats!!

Not commenting on this set in particular, but a general observation - original wartime pieces were readily available in the 1950s- many RK tragers who lost their original wartime awarded sets (had them confiscated) simply replaced them with other originals via the collector market. They were relatively cheap back then, and there was no market for fakes at that time. It is why you see many groupings where the RK was awarded in the early years, but the group has a late war made cross (thinking of all those K&Qs) and visa versa.

                              Agree with Harry 100%.

A beautiful set, regardless of any dispute over the history.
