    rookie spange question

I was just looking at Roberts beautiful early Juncker spange and that lead me to a question.
Robert's is a copper base material that once had a silver wash over it. I believe that most
spange were Tombac or some other cheap alloy that were washed or plated.

Were their ever any solid silver spangen? I have seen a few 800 marked
spange on ebay however I had serious doudts about their being good or not.

    Thank you.

I am very well aware that ebay is not the place to buy original
spange or most any other TR collectable.

That still does not answer the question. Are there any known examples
        of real silver spangen?

To my knowledge early spangen, yes, were tombak base with a silver plating. Latter-war period - zinc with a silver wash. Jim, John or Trevor would have better knowledge of solid silver examples, if there were any...

John (tinmantis) pinned a list of spange-makers. I just looked through it and found a Deumer 'L/11' spange marked '800' with a '?' signifying a question, a question to originality...

I'm the same as you Robert, I've seen a few 800 marked spangen, but none I totally believe in…
errrrr, except just one, an L/52/800 marked EK1 spange
I can believe that a few were made, but extremely rare
                regards

My sincere apology, Jon, for misspelling your first name.
