    Finally--My humble 57 collection

    Hi guys,

I have fianlly assembled a semi decent 57 collection so here it is to share with you. I am quite sure the cases are not real (at least they are not 57 issue, they may be current issue) I have included photos of the reverse as well. Let me know what you think! THere is some minor question about the RK and the amount of solder, but I think we'll let that alone for now and just enjoy a complete, or semi-complete 57 collection. Let me know what you think.

very nice indeed - this 57 stuff is really growing on me (especially when I see the prices of the WW2 articles !)

    Cheers

Thank you. Your opinions matter very much. I've very few folks I can even discuss this with where I live. Are there any collectors in the OKC area who'd like to correspond, please let me know.

        Thanks Jim

          Hi Brien,

Nice collection. You're right about the cases, the EKII case is a modern reproduction as is the DKiG case. The '57 EKI and EKII arrived in packets, unless they were presented in ex <'45 stock, which you would only find (if ever) with very early EK's, which yours don't appear to be. I'm sure your '57 RK case is fine, as these are reasonably common and I can't comment on your other cases from this picture. If the EKI case glows under black light it is a modern reproduction as well. Not that it matters, I just thought you might want to know.

          Nice display!

Very nice. The DkIG is super, I haven't seen those, and the RK is just stupendous. I love the mini on the ribbon!

Look on the bright side, less competition scouring the pawn shops, and thrift stores, and garage sales, and gun shops, and want ads, and.............

                      This is a nice collection.

Not so sure on some points made on the cases.

There are plenty of cased EK1's about and I am sure that they were originally sold with the cross itself. These are very different from the 1939 versions.

Some were even made of plastic similar to the one sold with my 57 German cross.

Later RK's were also sold with cases that shone under blacklight. Herr Niemann sold me a 57 RK with a case such as this a few years ago.

I understand that a new forum on cases and packets may be opening soon and this should be a most useful addition to the forum.

                      Regards ...

Personaly I like the cases even if they are not original or 'period' - I assume that they came with the crosses and the bons is that you get a nice place to store and display them rahter than crosses 'floating' around the cabinet.
