    Interesting RK

Can we take any more Meybauer connections?

I guess many of you have seen this from one of our sponsors, but for me, this is a first...

When that was posted, the story was that juncker supplied crosses to other makers, in this case Meybauer, which is the reason for the meybauer stamp on a juncker cross. Another story- too bad. I like the 800 only marked juncker crosses personally. This is currently listed on the collectrussia.com site.

      Tom or Dave,

Although marked L/13, IS this a good Juncker made cross?? Is the story of them being sold to other companies legit?? If so, are these considered more rare, or just an oddball to be avoided by the purist?

      Thanks.

This is a good juncker cross (before the stamp was added). The stamp obviously is not that of a juncker. It does not completely match the L/13 on the EK1 section, nor on the meybauer EK1 I have. It looks to be an added stamp to "increase the value" at some point to a juncker cross. There have been presumptions stated regarding makers of RKs making these for other firms. There has been no factual evidence presented here confirming that.

Jim, this particular Cross will prove to be a bear to discuss! The reason for that is because it has passed through a couple of 'friends' hands who are wonderful members of this Forum.

So one needs to discuss only the Cross and not from where it came, is now and where it may be next week.

It's a lovely Juncker but carries with it a 'question mark' or two!

The loop appears not to be a type utilized by Juncker...so probably didn't start out with the cross. The L/13 stamp is completely confounding in that it is a very heavy/deep stamping but yet is not visible at the face of the other side.

This suggests that it may have been slapped prior to the frame halves being joined.....It appears to be hand tapped as it is off center and 'deeper' at one side. If it were 'pressed' one would expect to see a very 'even' impression.

L/13 of course is Paul Meybauer, Berlin which drags yet another group of 'friends' to the discussion and the question; if this Cross is a contract/sample cross made by Juncker...why would it be marked with the LdO #L/13 when (this) group believes that Meybauer had its own RK die!!!

We need to walk softly with this one as the last time discussion was attempted things got a bit rough and the thread deleted!!

From a 'purest' standpoint this cross completely confounds me and from a 'logic' standpoint I'm left with......maybe?...could be!
          Regards,
          Dave

            Hey Guys,

Thanks! That pretty much answered my question.

If this were really an unusual variant, it would probably be in Pieter's display case right now, rather than for sale on a website for a fairly reasonable price!
