    EK1 manufacturer question

DANG IT, I can't remember the name of this maker that has the identifying hole beneath the hinge. I've been looking for years for a denazified version but there's a relic for sale at a reasonable price and I'm on the fence about it.. Opinions???

OK, never mind; its a Walter & Henlein with the correct flaw and "bubble" and for 40 euro I'gonna get it.... Less than the price of a decent meal these days... This one was dug up in Germany, so it must have had quite a journey...

There are Juncker EK1s that have a hole there also .

Interesting, I did not know that. I made sure this relic EK1 had the same flaw on the 12 o'clock arm as the ones in much better condition I saw on a thread about Walter & Henlein... Never have seen a denazified with a mm, probably never will...

I dont support the "ground dug" industry so I would never purchase this cross

Its very similar to this other relic cross

          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=ground+dug

Even down to the hole and the broken hinge in the exact same position

The problem with W&H first classes is that no one is absolutely certain if the EK1 made from them is postwar or wartime. They made wartime EK2.

I would like to question you why don't support the ground dug theory?

It happens to be that I know the guy who found while metaldetecting a hoard of about 40 pieces of EK1 from W&H. This cross is most likely from the very same hoard he found.

So, the big question is: Are there any EK1s marked 109????

Honestly, life is too short for rusty EKs. Millions were made and there are tens of thousands available on the market, if not more. Considering the plethora of these and all the stories that go with them why would you want something like this? Free perhaps and maybe a good story to go with it. Yes, I understand we all collect whatever floats our boat but with all of the crosses available on the market why something like this? Go ahead guys, slap me upside the head.

I collect mostly denazified EK1s ,and those come in all sorts of condition. Also EK2 to EK1 field conversions. I got this relic because I haven't come across a denazified example yet, and honestly, I was jonesing for a new EK purchase! I also take these relics and make simple necklaces from them...I like wearing them and not having to worry about sporting a swastika... But, I don't normally buy relics, for the reasons you mention
