Ek1 Screwback

So I have been doing research and I've read that no Screwback ek1s were not issued but instead private purchase? Does this mean anyone could just go buy one at the store? Or were they just bought as extra copies by award winners? I found this interesting because screw backs are usually sold for higher prices, I would have thought private purchased pieces would be worth less. I have a nice l /16 Screwback I am thinking of keeping or maybe selling and buying a pin back example instead.

They were private purchase and you had to show your award paperwork when buying one.

They are rarer than normal EK's you should just buy both !
