No body has said its a bad cross Anthony. It matches all the characteristics of a K&Q 65'er. It's just the obverse looks pretty clean and in good shape, yet the reverse appears to be in much worse condition. It just raises suspicion why it's like this that's all.

Didn't the Germans normally date things with D/M/Y ??

This appears to be M/D/Y like we do it in the US??

Anthony, I think the cross is good. But I am suspicious of the markings on the back. You will probably want to get some other opinions.

Maybe have George, Peter, or Mikael take another look.

In my opinion this is a genuine K&Q but the engraving is fantasy. There is no way that the reverse of this cross would show this kind of decay while the front is in such nice condition. If this were a genuine SS inscribed cross it would be very valuable. D/M/Y is fine as a date configuration but there is no way that I would believe this engraving was period.

            hi anthony,

the reverse looks like a real k+q ek, but i dont like the obverse that much from what i can see from the pictures. it reminds me of a deumer cross (both frame and core)

dont you have a straight shot of the obverse??

The EK is genuin and looks like a short top 3 65´er. Some times EK´s back sides can age like that, i have one from a diff maker whit perfect mint front but a backside like that. The engraving imo are made 99 off 100 to trim the price up. For the EK The engraving

I agree with StefanK. Angled shots are okay for "Artistic Crosses" photos, but when it comes to evaluation nothing beats large, detailed, head-on shots of the obverse and reverse.

It is clear as daylight the inscribtion is not a contemporary German work.
Never in the life would a German place the month in front of the day.
Also the slogan "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" is me a wee bit to suspect.
Reverse looks good to me, exept the artificial ageing.
Obverse was a straight shot of help.

theres also a spelling mistake.... it should be "meine ehre heißt" and not "meine ehre heist"

Agreed. Thanks for the clarification on the date. I thought that looked a little strange.
