George, I imagine about as sound as the Repo/Aged case and the added loop...

Should be interesting though...Fenski died in '65.

I'd like a good picture of the loop....65/800 loops were being sold via Ebay.de about a year back!

I have no other pictures: thats a shame. But too me it also looks interesting.

I can purchase it from a small antiquedealer (not specialised in military whatsoever) in germany, who told me it belonged to Horst Arno Fenski (U-Boot Kommandant U410). Yes, Fenski died 'young' in 1965. I will ask de dealer how he purchased it (maybe from relatives of Fenski).

The ring bears markings 800 65, but the cross is a rounder, so the maker aint Klein & Quenzer?? The box looks very aged/original as same as the ribbon. Well, i am not an expert as you are, so im glad to hear your opinions.

                    greets
                    martin

Fenski may have had this as a 'next best thing' replacement for his original cross, which may well have been 'confiscated' on surrender.?? Here he is - postwar??

                        Hello,

due to the quality of the pic's it's impossible to state about fake or original.

I expect that better, more detailed and not so dark pictures will allow a final statement.

                        Kind regards

                        Walter

                          Hallo Walter,

I don't think that better pictures are needed: It is a Rounder, no doubt about that. Now whether the Rounder is real or not, that's a completely different question, as we (all) know .

Well, the antiquedealer got the KC from a former comrad of Fenski who had obtained it from him, because he didnt want his relatives would be uncarefully with the cross after his death.

This comrad is, as the dealer says, 82 years old, still lives in Essen and is also a Knights Cross holder (former Leutnant zur See & Kommandant Schnellboot). He still has a KC with Award Document (and uniform and so on) and promised the dealer to offer his KC. Well i'll hope this KC with Document will soon be offered: i'll be the first to check it out....and will let you experts know..

In 2 weeks i will drive to the dealer in Germany to see the KC of Fenski and other interesting Stuff of him (nice cased EK1). Maybe you have advices or tips when i look at the KC, Case & Ribbon. I would be glad to hear so.

                            Greets & thanx

                              Martin,

I suggest you photograph everything in great detail and report back before dropping any money. May be great stuff, but best to play it safe. If he wants to unload stuff he can wait for you I am sure.

                              Humbly,
                              Marc
