    id needed for named EK1

Finally got this beauty...but what maker? No MM.

This EK1 is from a set of awards for a Wilchard Scholz, 2/.Infantrie Regiment 18, 6 div, army group center.

The thing that amazes me though is I have never seen one with so much doodling on the back.

It (the doodles) corrobrates with Scholz's battle records, on the 8/8/1942 he was involved in a month-long defence of a hill #200 at Rzhev, so the markings make sense. The 25/9 date is the one on the certificate that came with the ek1 award. EK1 is vaulted, although not sure if it was in the field or factory.

So anybody know what kind of Cross is it?

That case is not orginal for that EK as it is a LDO case. The catch on the EK look´s like the catch on my L/15 whit dropp shape pin. Any how the EK is orginal.

I'd like to see a good, straight-on shot of the obverse.

It could be "L59." Here's the reverse of one of mine.

        I have never seen such a reverse on a 16 (L59) cross.
I would be very pleased if you can a straight shot (obverse + reverse) put in, it was of interest.

Catch has the look of a L15 cross but hindge and needle does not match.
The same type of hindge you can find on 1 and 26.
As far as I can cognize, numerals, it looks for me like a 1.

                Reverse compared with another "L59."

And just incidentally, the other "L59" has a reversed catch!

Thanks for all the interest guys...sorry for the slow response, I just woke up outa bed.

George, your cross is very similar to mine on the reverse, however the top 'arm' on the '3' on yours is fatter than mine...

As for the case, I kind of suspected the LDO mismatch and was a little surprised not to find the MM underneath the pin or something. Anyone want to trade a case? drop me a pm

Franki i dont think it´s a L/59. Compare the one you have whit my L/15, i do see a close match on the date. But have in mind my L/15 can be a mix off makers. Wy, if those L15 are ok then the maker off this EK´s are a mix off other makers. I do belive this L/15 is a early type, and maybe the only true L/15.
