    Books about EK

I'm a militaria noob, but I've decided the area about I want make my collection: the amazing world of EK's. Only, first, 1914 and 1939 model and maybe, later, 1870. The thing I want to know is a various books that can help me in the knowledge of the iron cross. Some friends (I'm from Spain) recommended me Gordon Williamson's book, but his price is very high (200$ + shipping).

I would like read your advices.

    Greetings from Spain.

And if you'd like to understand the award of the EK1 and EK2 in context, in addition to what has already been recommended, try the EK Documents book...

And the the best book about EK up to 1914 is the work by Frank Wernitz, available in English or German. Great writting, containing two big volumes with excellent illustrations and perfect descriptions:

Buy all the books you can, whether they be by Williamson, Maerz-Stimson, Wernitz, Bowen, Geissler, Thater or others. Read and think at the same time. Good luck.

I agree, I have every book mentioned in this thread, even though I don't even really collect EKs. Any book that shows closeups of hinge and catches, etc. is invaluable to a variant badge collector like myself. Well worth the investment if you are serious about this hobby.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
