                    A fine original W&L for me as well.

                      Here is a question I doubt anyone can answer, but I'll ask it anyway.
                      If this maker marked the case L/ 55, then why wouldn't the cross have that same mark on the badge?

                      I have not seen to my knowledge any threads addressing the slash MM's, as opposed to the non slash marks, of the same number?

                      It seems if the box was paired with this cross from the same production run or batch ...they likely may not have originally been together ? (Paired up by someone else?)

                      Not saying cross isn't good, just wondering how box and badge didn't match , so could someone have stamped the number under the LDO mark, or? (What could be the scenario) ?
                      Did anyone else catch that, and wonder about it like I do? Thanks if anyone has the answer.

                      One more question is: does this cross bear any similarities to other L/55's known to be L/55's to be sure it's that makers cross. This just crossed my mind, can others who own L/55's post some of theirs also for comparison. I can't say I have seen very many 55 numbered crosses.

                        Cross and case match, that cross is a private purchase cross which the LDO marking symbolizes. The cross can be distinhuished as an W&L product without a marking too.

                        About the marking;
                        In the beginning I would belive that there was some misunderstanding with how they should be marked, but most got it right. Is uppose they should have been marked with the "/" but as a good example didn't mark it like that, even if a good original cross.
                        One even worse example is Deumer and it's 11 marking where they didn't only miss the slash but also the L
