    Unmarked Screwback EK1

Is this a known maker that used this type of screwback ? I have never seen one like this but maybe others have. Possibly a custom job.

I believe it is a Juncker or S&L, but with the light shinning on the cross makes it difficult to tell. Here is are pictures of mine to compare against top one is Juncker, bottom S&L. Jim

Original factory item indeed, not custom job.
You are lucky with this nice cross.

It looks to be the same as the S&L. I am looking at the 1939 and it is different than the Junker cross. So it is just missing part of the backing plate then.

              Thanks

The core is Juncker...there were some different Juncker cores, and this is one of them.
The frame is Juncker "crunch bead", from a reworked or refurbished die.
So as previously stated, it's a Juncker iron cross.

Ok then Juncker it is. I think ill stick to SS insignia much easier.

You can check it in Stephan's database (EK1-DNA).
Or you can look for it in Dietrich/George book, page 104 for the "crunch bead" frame, and page 107 for the core (the second one in that page).
I believe the thin screw (as yours) is very early, later they changed to a wider screw...IMHO, of course (my early Juncker-related one piece screwback has the very same thin screw).

Hi Sayle ..... yes unfortunately on yours the disk is missing .

                          I do have to make a correction here . That is not a Juncker - it is a W&L made EK1 .

                          You have a W&L EK1 - with the 2nd frame and 2nd core .
Here is the same frame and core .

The 2 crosses you show Jim are : top is a W&L and below is a S&L .

The top W&L you have - has the unmistakable W&L chip/ repair on it - it is not a Juncker !

Wonder if Sayle can check to see if his frame has this same flaw .

The picture is not sharp enough to say for sure - I am only guessing here . .
