World War II Iron Cross [1st Class] with original box

Hey guys need some help. I've owned this for a while and last week decided to sell it. Stuck it on ebay with the description below and they removed it. I'm no expert and don't really know where I can sell it or how much to ask. I don't know how to attach photos to this post. I hope I've described it ok. Any advice or tips would be really welcome, hope I'm not being a pain..

"This Iron Cross is stamped with its LDO [Administration of German Orders Manufacturers Deutschen Ordenhersteller] also known as its makers mark - L/50 on the far side of the C ring. That signifies it was made by Gebr. Godet & C.F. Zimmermann in Berlin. It has the usual patina which I have never cleaned - it could be bright and shiny should you wish it. The clip is sound and connects well. Three of the arms have a seamless connection - one has a very tiny gap - I've tried to show this in the photos. It comes with the presentation Iron Cross box which is aged [like the IC] but in excellent condition. It is rare that one of these medals comes to the open market with an original box. This particular example shows signs of light wear which would seem to suggest it was actually worn during WW2.
What makes this unique is the Swastika has been professionally ground off after the war. I have never seen one like this before. Perhaps by a soldier who won this award but wanted to continue wearing this original medal after the war rather than replace it with a 1957 version. This is pure speculation on my part."

Welcome to the forum. As stated, you have to be a paid member to post pix, or use an off-site hosting service with links (which is somewhat discouraged).

As for the cross, it's really not rare to have either the box, or the swaz ground off. Both border on "very common". Still, a nice EK1 is a nice EK1, so it'd be nice to see the pix.

      all the best,
      Hank

        Thanks guys.

I've enclosed a link with all the pictures. I suppose two things would be useful - if someone could give me a steer as to how to sell the IC and also what its worth [apologies if I'm not allowed to ask that] but I have no idea and I suppose if it would have run on ebay it would have found its own price.

Again thanks so much for the help

This is a good Godet EK1 and the box is original ,but the condition not the best
I think that this set price is 100-130€

Many thanks for all your help guys. I've posted it as an auction is militaria321 and whatever it sells for - well that is fine. Again I really appreciate your assistance.

Would be worth more if the swazi hadn't been ground off. Ebay is hit and miss with listing. Lots of stuff on there with swastikas that never get taken off, but my stuff always gets removed. I got kicked off for 30 days right now. I was just selling low cost stuff. That's probably why. If I was selling something for hundreds or thousands of dollars, I'm sure it wouldn't be removed.

What you have is known as a "denazified" cross, the swastika has been removed as per Post VE day regulations. I collect these types of crosses and do not have an L/50 pinback in my collection. Please PM me here or send an email to A2@ausgangart.com. Here is my L/50 screw back
