The maker is Walter & Hentein and some like this cross and some think it is a fake. Jim

From Gablonz...not official maker for EK1...so for some (or many) a questionable iron cross as a maybe postwar production.

Drilled in the backplate, may be as a gas vent during the soldering.

Correct ... some times this hole can be cover up by a pin hinge .
