German Cross in Gold mm 20

Helloooo,
I have been down and out for a while and when I got out and about yesterday I found this.. Hope it is a good one.. Maker marked 20, weighs 43.5 grams.

It's an original dotted light 20 Dkig with nice aging.

It's been a while since one of these have popped up. Of course these were once thought to be fakes, but not any more. Now they are classed as a "not so easy to find" DKiG.

Hi Van,

No issues for me either, textbook DK with some great patina on it. With the exception of the dotted numerals, everything else is textbook Zimmermann construction, even the maker mark is textbook IMO. As Andrew says, they were once considered fakes, but all the forensic evidence points to these being original and one has even been found in a Klessheim grouping a few years back, which was the final nail in the coffin to say they are originals. Nice example you stumbled upon.

This cross is not only interesting because of the patina (however, who can differentiate between 70 years old and - let's say - 50 years of patina?). The cross has two of the features the lack thereof critiques pointed out in the beginning of the debate: the 11 o/clock flaw plus the correct (not halved) 20 stamp. There are meanwhile several examples like this and the case is clearly closed.
