Hi Marcus,
The things that I don't like about these are:
1) They have all turned up at once. This may well be mitigated by Skip’s explanation but I have yet to read it.
2) Some have been messed about with by the addition of an LDO statement on the back where the format used was a modern computer type which shows that someone has made or altered some of them with a view to deceive.
Why would anyone mess up a low priced authentic item such as an EKII packet as by doing so is not (in this instance) going to raise the unit price?
3) The maker name on the back did is not on the list of known EKII's. Granted, the list may well be incomplete.
4) The paper construction appears to me to be non-period as most authentic packets that I know of have a slight glossy feel and appearance. Granted, some West Wall packets are not glossy. These EKII packets however, look quite rough to me and not like other EKII packets I have or have previously seen.
Marcus, although I have not handled one I would classify these as pure modern day fakes on the grounds above especially points 2) and 4).
As things stand though, I would not have one in my collection and would advise others to keep away from them too.
Any chance of testing these packets like you did with the 'kraft' paper types?
This would prove their pedigree one way or the other.
All the best.
Regards ...

Hello mate,
I'm in the process of the Hansen-Hausen packets and a few ribbons for a friend, but sure, these ones along with others I'd love to get tested.
There will be a new forum in the next little while, and I want to share and discuss a few things further on there (I'm saving the odd thing for there )
Now those Ldo sorts, I'm not happy with those at all personally either.
I'd love to get my hands on one of these Ldo types and if anyone has any obvious fakes or dubious packets, they could loan for a duration, donate or sell then please do contact me by all means.

Hi Douglynn i agree with Marcus on these types of packets and believe them to be genuine. Texture, feels and looks correct, but like hagwalther has already said they were not none makers of Ek packets. Maybe they were a production run to take up a short fall (it happens today), or simply were just not listed. As for the LDO stamped ones these i do not like and believe this was done to increase their value. Only a test on the paper will prove or disprove these packets, up till then its a case of each to their own. All the best

Not much im afraid, heard that you can pick them up for a fiver, mine cost 8 if i remember correctly from an antique shop, although he wanted 10. I know Detlev has them on his web site for i think around the 18 pound mark. Maybe they will increase or decrease as more knowledge arises. But still nice to have as a gift. All the best

It's hard to say, she is mint, but they are now common like this, they're not everyones cup of tea either.
10-15 would be more than fair in sterling, a dealer could get away with 20 pounds.
I like it.

PS Doug, if you want to get rid of her, I'll take her your hands and I'll get this very exact example tested.

Hi Marcus,
This sounds pretty exciting stuff and I'll be waiting in anticipation for the new forum and further testing of packets.
