German Cross in Gold '21' Godet

I would like to get some opinions on this German Cross in Gold, heavy '21' marked Godet. The swastika looks a bit different in construction, silver material.

    Thanks for your opinions.

I must say I think the glass is sunken down or is it just the picture,
It sure has a different swastica than mine has.

That's what made me ask my question as well.

Here another shot of the enamel

I have searched my books including Dietrich's and I cannot find a DK with such enamel.
I think it is repaired unless Dietrich has some other info??

There only two ways to "replace" or "repair" enamel: hot or cold. It is clear that this is not anything that was treated with heat after the assembly. It is also clear that the swastika is absolutely original to the cross, meaning not being "replaced" (something mentioned often by people who don't know about the construction).
That would leave cold replacement. In order to do that one would either need to remove the swastika or scrape out the original enamel. I don't see any traces of that either.

What I think is that not all ( maybe) 35,000 DKs were made perfectly and that it surely happened that the enamel work was not always 100%. Just as the frame assembly and stamping of other medals was not always perfect.
So this is one on that group. It is always easy to find this and that on any medal and raise the suspicion of fake or part replacement or other "inconsistencies". The German Cross is often used for comments of replaced enamel or replaced wreath.

From my perspective this is a perfectly genuine example and if one doesn't like it so be it. And if somebody believes the swastika is not original it is hard to argue other than the points I made above.

Sometimes we have to be carefull not to destroy an original based on feelings or personal preferences.
