    1957 EK2 with maker 3 on ring

As there seems to be a lot of57 EK's around at the moment (mostly S&L new one's). I thought it might be of interest to post this one I got from Germany via ebay.

It has a 2 part frame with a seperate magneic core.

The frame has a small hump on which the small ring is attached
(this compares with a 40 marked WW2 example I own, both in the style of the frame, but also in the finish & the dimensions).

Lastly on the reverse of the ring there is a 3 makers mark.

    I presume old parts used?

The quality seems to be far greater than the ones I have seen recently.

      '57 Iron centre

      Hello again Neil!,
I have a '57 with an iron centre, I got it from Jamie Cross. they are supposed quite rare, as they were early manufacture and now cost as much, if not a little bit more than wartime examples. Good quality, as good as the origials anyway.
You could be right about old stock parts, I would not venture a guess.
I am on a search for an early '57 EK1 with an iron centre to compliment my '57 EK11, I've never even seen one.....yet.

      Regards
      Andy Mac

Although Deumer never really figured as a major manufacturer of 1957 type awards it does seem that they uised up remaining stock of wartime pieces for 1957 awards though they did not seem to go into production as far as re-tooling is concerned. Deumer is well known for instance, for the 1957 KVK1 where they simply soldered a "new" separate 1939 date centre over the original swastika centre.
Certainly a "3" marked 1957 EK is scarcer than the typical Steinhauer pieces. You may encounter3 or L/11 marked 1957 EK1s also, again using up old wartime stock frames,

          Neil,

Here's my wartime "3"- marked EK 2. The frame looks very similar to your '57, even having the slight "hump" where the small ribbon ring is attached to the frame.
