WWI 1914 Iron Cross w/1939 Spange for Review

Good Afternoon Gentlemen,

I have wanted one of these for a long time now, but I am the farthest thing in the world from an expert on these combinations. Is this set real and original, or is it a complete fake?

It is listed on a dealers website, but I wanted to get some opinions on it before contacting him about it.

Both are fake.

I agree with others... combo fake both pieces.

The design is very similar to originals, but this combo type exist factory made during WWII or 2 good pieces welded

Thanks everyone for the reply's. So based on this last reply, am I safe to assume that these two piece combinations did not exist during the war, or that there were only certain companies that produced these combinations.

They did exist. What they are saying is that the cross and the spange are both fakes combined to make a fake one piece.

You know it's funny, because it says "price available upon request" ???

This is the 2nd item from this dealer's website that I have inquired about, and after consulting with the forum, both items were bad.

I'm definitely going to steer clear of this dealer moving forward.

that has been all over ebay for the last few years. It is a one piece fake, easily
recognized by the style of crown. These things are found as 1st and 2nd class
versions as well grand stars. They can be found with different pinbacks and
different screwbacks as well as having different makers marks and silver content
marks.

that has been all over ebay for the last few years. It is a one piece fake, easily
recognized by the style of crown. These things are found as 1st and 2nd class
versions as well grand stars. They can be found with different pinbacks and
different screwbacks as well as having different makers marks and silver content
marks.

Thank you for the pictures and the descriptions as well. Some of the IC's in the pictures you provided look too perfect to be over 100 years old. I have definitely learned a lot on this forum, and look forward to becoming more educated with each passing day.
