    Bras plated iron core?

Anyone know who the manufacturer of this brass-plated iron core EK1 might be?
It is not maker marked, the paint on the swastika and date has worn down to what looks like a brass coating, but the cross reacts to a magnet. No mm anywhere on the piece. I can get some better pics if these do not lend any hints.
    Thanks

The frame appears to be silver plated. Is it possible to have a magnetic silver plated frame, and a brass core?

          Hi,
I would say C.F. Zimmermann (20) or Gebr. Godet (21).
Needle and catch match with it as far as I can see.

            Thanks Franki-

Is the brass plating a charachteristic that might help identify it as an early or late war piece?

                  Steven,

I would have to agree with Franki that your cross is either a Zimmerman ( 20 or L/52) or a Godet ( L/50) product.

From your pictures I cannot see anything that would suggest that the cross core or frame is brass plated. The swastika on the core looks to be browned out steel due to age after losing the paint. A true brass cored EK will have a distinct golden to reddish cast caused by the copper in the brass alloy. I just don't see this here. Looks to me to be a nicely worn standard constuction EKI. Maybe someone else can comment further.

                    Tony-

Thanks for the reply. You are right, the finish is a brownish color with no golden-red tones evident.

sorry, the cross is fotr sure not a zimmermann or a godet, look at the numerals and the frame!

StefanK is right. A Zimmermann would have more pointed inner corners close to the swastika.

                        Cheers.

                          Hello steven

I have an identical cross like that cased from Detlev .That toned colour is a copper coating , i would post pictures , however for some reason my images upload but wont show up on the finished item.I have seen in other threads of this nature that copper was used instead of brass.
                          Regards
