Spanienkreuz Spanish Cross original or fake???

    Hi,

I have in my collection this cross for many years. But I´m not sure if is it original, or cheap copy.

    Thank you for any opinion

Any SK that has an eagle like this is a fake. No possibility of an eagle like that on a genuine SK. That's an easy determination.

                Not always so easy.

P.S. The one that started this thread is a fake.

A little photography experiment I tried awhile back with my 835-marked SK on a LW uniform. Note how under the right conditions a normal SK eagle (inset in upper-right box) takes on the look of a drop tail, much like Leroy's photo.

                      Interesting how the tails disappear.

Yes, if I shot in the dark and blurred it, I could do that, too.

Works just as well in daylight Leroy, as you've already shown us.

The only evidence for the possible existence of down-tailed crosses:

1.) Next of Kin case (all down)
2.) Original illustration from Doehle (a drawing) showing alternating eagles (down, up, down, up)
                              3.) "Souvenir board"
                              4.) Cross from "souvenir board"
