Case Spanish Cross for Next of Kin

    Hi Guys

I have this Cased Spanish Case for the Next of Kin.

I would greatly appreciate any comments on the cross, ribbon, and case.

Should the case be green in color?

    Is the cased cross authentic?

    thanks, Al

Looks great to me apart from the ring which is usually soldered closed on the version with the cut-out swas.

Apart from that, texbook with an original case

Compare it to Andrews example in this thread:
            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=Kin

I think it looks a little off, as in not a 100% match, so I have some doubts about the one that started this thread.

But as before, I could be wrong, so wait for more to give their opinions.

Flemming, I'd agree. One thing that puzzles me, and this could be the lighting, is the color looks totally off. Also, I can't say I've seen other genuine examples with filed out swastikas?

Here's how I like to see them...

                Hi Flemming and George

When I got home, I looked it up in my DN price catalog (7.02.07) and didn't realize how rare cased originals of this fine award are, otherwise I would have taken more and detailed pictures. Especially to quantify the color of the award.

Going thru the threads, it seem that a type with cut out swastikas has been considered authentic. In fact in DN's catalog he shows an example (7.02.07 - second page) with cut out swastikas (cut outs in between the west, east and south arms of the swastika). In fact, the one I have posted, looking at the rear view and how the eagles wings are attached to the cross, is identical to the one of the examples pictured in DN's catalog. The eyelet for the ribbon suspension ring/loop even has the exact same slight twist to it as in DN's example, as well as one of the links posted above, this feature can be seen here too.

Would love to get more comments on this and the badge that I have posted

                best regards,

                Al

                  Al,

The cross you have shown is a fine original and the colour is spot on.

Here is on from my own collection for comparison.

As I said before, the only part I don't like is that the ring was not soldered closed but otherwise IMO it is a very nice example.

                    Hi Stan

Thanks for the additional information and posting pictures of your award for comparison.

That's a superb example you have in your collection

I would agree, mine is identical albeit for the non-soldered suspension ring.

                    thanks again and best regards,

                    Al

Hi Stan, any idea why the cross in the link I posted then is a much deeper bronze color?

                        Hi George,

Yes, the crosses with the solid swas do have a darker colour wash and also a joint in the ring which hasn't been soldered closed.

I believe that both were made by Juncker but really have no idea why there are these differences.

thanks for the information about the color differences. I was wondering about that too George.
