I need some information about a case I have but I am not sure what is supposed to be in it. The case was purchased some time ago because it was one I had not seen before, was in nice condition and properly aged to be real (plus the lady only wanted $25 for it). It is for the bar to the iron cross. It is red leather outside with a fairly large politcal eagle in gold on the lid. The inside has a white silk lined lid that is yellowed with age. Stuck into this was a SS round stick pin that I have no idea how it got there but I was told that is how it was found. I have removed it as the point it went through was becoming discolored by it. The base is black velvet and is fitted across the top for a ribbon and does contain an aged WW I type EK 2 ribbon. The lower portion also has indentations for two bars. A larger one on the left and a smaller on the right. What I am unable to tell is what grade of bars should be in these depressions. Tha case was empty when I bought it save for the SS pin and the ribbon. Is this for the EK 2 bars of the regular and Prinzen size, an EK 1 and EK 2 bar or what? The smaller depression seems to fit a prinzen bar but I am not sure about the larger as neither an EK 1 nor EK 2 bars seem to be exact fits. Also does anyone know if a particular manufacturer of these awards used this case type. I would like to get the proper set of bars to place in the case. Any opinions or information on this case type would be appreciated. Mike C.
