Hey Boomtown, you have an Iron Cross with a brass core instead of iron. These are unusual as most have iron cores; not RARE for this manufacturer, just UNUSUAL..
Back in 1813, the Iron Cross iron cores were originally made from the melted down cannons of the enemy

Sanya : That is not completely correct for the W&L cores . Cores made in zink , brass , iron and also the rare solid copper core with Ni plated surface .
Hard to detect and easy to miss - I have only seen this copper core together with W&L first frame .

Yes Sanya ... I do . I would not make such bold statement if I did not have one . Just lucky I guess finding one as the core was covered/plated .
Took a long time to decide to take a sharp knife and to find a less noticeable spot to perform the surgery !
I scraped through the Ni-plating on one edge on the Swastika . The incision can only be see at a very steep side view angle .
Once the copper goes dark you will not know it is there .
