Iron Cross Recipients - Their Awards in Context

The Iron Cross is my favorite subject among militaria collectibles, and the stories beyond its recipients are what I specialize in. As many of you know from my book, their is a whole load of history behind each attributed award.

I have been putting together numerous stories about Iron Cross winners for my website, all in historical context. It's a work in progress and will continually be updated and expanded. I invite you to the site to see the actions, battles and campaigns in which many regular men were recognized and acknowledged for their bravery.

    There are two main sections...

    Iron Cross Winners by Battle/Campaign

Iron Cross Winners with Begründung, detailed "grounds" for their awards.

Please check the site and circle back on occasion. I will bump this thread up as I add more stories. I know you Iron Cross Collectors will enjoy these stories surrounding the EK.

    Best,
    Brian

        Hey Brian,

A great addition to the study of the EK.

I am constantly amazed at the way you can decipher and read an EK document.

Very handsome and impressive site, dude.

Please post here with updates so we can all check back in to see what's new.
        Best regards,

all awards with their 'backgroud' / reasons are my favorite too.
however the reasons for lower level awards were usually neglected
as no newpaper or unit Befehl was recorded or published. they are rare.

                            Wow that is great site.

But with 4.5+ million IC2s awarded you do have a little more work to do.

If you dont have Brians book.... shame on you! hang your head!

Brian brings literacy to what would otherwise just be collecting WW2 scrap metal!
