    EK_1 w/ vent hole

    Hello all,

I came across this EK_1 with a vent hole under the hinge on the reverse. What's everyone think of this one? A good Walter & Henlein manufactured cross?

Hí William this is a good original W&H type

( IMO war time type ,but this only my opinion because this the type cross a controversial piece because the opinions divided about it )

though the you're on your piece the pin maybe was repaired

        Here are my pieces

Don't like anything about it. IMO not a good original

I have to agree with Tom. I have never seen this before and anyway why would an EKI require a vent hole?

Where the beading meets around the swaz is more rounded on your example William, than on Sanya's example. Interesting

To relieve pressure when they were fired in the kiln!

Here's a thread I started on these that may provide some input - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=572301. I'm a believer that these are wartime, but some aren't.

                    Original IMO.

The vent hole (or whatever it was meant for) is not a reason to call it fake.
There are other known originals with a similar hole, some Wiedmann crosses have it as well.
