      This company still exist, but you see the mark AIDA on the pin and specially the shape of the safety pin, often on medals from before 1945.

        I'm nowhere near an expert on crosses but I do have more than a little experience in the metal fabrication world and this was made by a skilled machinist/sheet metal worker. Just the sort of person you find on a ship or a U-boot.

        I like this cross a great deal.
