EK2 interesting suspension ring solution

I found a on site ,this the Cross. this on the cross the suspension ring It is not soldered ,but over there drilled
What do you think about it ?

I have seen this type before. I think it's some kind of repair.

I remember this cross being auctioned in a small auction in Germany.
The jumpring seemed then drilled indeed.
Is the jumpring loose or has it actually been soldered in the drilled hole?

Well if it is priced according the repair,
it could be worth buying IMO because the interesting solution!

But everyone makes up his own mind of these repaired crosses.

But there's no telling WHEN it was done. 1945? 1985? Without knowing, I wouldn't bother with it.

Yes this is true in many cases was it an 1870 cross or 1939 if it is a home made repair like this.
But I personally find the different repair methods interesting and I don't see repaired 1939 crosses as often as imperial crosses.

I collect these repaired ones also depending on creativity, how well made it is and basic look. I would buy this cross if it would be priced accordingly because I find the repairs interesting.

As a side note,
a Jeweler made repair on a 2nd class 1939 would be a real treasure to find for me


Back to the cross itself,
the hole is drilled and the overall look of the repair gives me the feeling that the repair is made on a year closer to the year we live on than it would be to the year 1945.
I never claimed it to be a period repair, only a repair.

Just as Hank said .... could very well be a recent repair . There are always EK2 for sale that have no jump ring .... that can be fixed in that way .

Personally, the first time I see such a nicely made repair (drilled hole) - a very interesting cross, if the price includes repair, I would buy it ...
