I've been looking for a Juncker cross for a good while now. I've always been into the worn crosses with altered ribbons for wear. I was very happy to have been able to pick this cross up. The early orange ribbon altered for wear was another thing about it that I liked. It gives it that early look. When I picked it up I didn't even notice it was a less common variant with the L/12 stamp on the left as opposed to the more common right side. Thank you to Dietrich for pointing this out!

With interchangeable pieces, any loop and ribbon can be put on any cross. I would almost guarantee that crosses worn over time had their ribbons changed more than once during the course of the war.
Take a baseball cap for instance. How long is one worn in normal civilian wear until it is nasty with sweat and dirt? Now take a piece worn in military conditions. Let's just say a General, who's living conditions were much cleaner than other troops. It's no secret many German Generals commanded from the field. Sweat and dirt were still a factor in which ribbons would be affected.
For me, the ribbon is original and the cross is original. It is a great representation so why worry about the rest.
