    Iron Cross

    Hello,
That's what I got this morning in this small cardboard box. Everything was in that little box. I do not know if this is a real decoration or reproduction. Would there be among you people who could help me? thanks for your help

The RK itself is a rounder. You can search for that in the forum but essentially it is a fake. The oaks look nice from the front but the reverse (from what I can see from poor photos ) seems lacking in quality. The photos are just too large to be useful on my monitor.
For what it is worth, the white strip row count appears to be 17 which also makes the ribbon unlikely to be original.

OK, too bad. Thank you for your attention. It also surprised me that it is a true cross in the cardboard box. That said, it has a pleasantly old look. There's also that little extra ring what is it for?

Your question RICH G, regarding the oak leaves me interested and looking more closely, it appears that behind the ring has been fixed. This would explain the look you describe. However, why these oak leaves if they were genuine, on a fake cross? it is very curious no? I'd really like to know if these sheets are genuine or a fake ... Thank you for your friendly help.

You will need to show clear photos if the back of the oakleaves. Given that the ribbon and the rk are fake, I'm not hopeful that the oakleaves are original but not impossible.

Hello Rich G, I removed the ribbon and the cross to better see the underside of leaves of oaks. I'm not expert, but I have a feeling that there was a repair of the ring.
                Thanks for your help.
                Sincerely

In my opinion it is cast copy. I can see casting flaws on the reverse.

OK, Rich G, thank you for your opinion, but I would have liked a little more reasoned opinions on manufacturing at the time and especially what differentiates an original model that I watch. As I said, it seems to me that there was a repair of the ring, is not this that can affect the appearance? Are the markings conform? Is the drawing sheets compliant? For several questions that remain unanswered. I want more notice of specialists. Thank you.

                            Hi Euronymous,
It is also a question I ask myself ... but for the moment I have only to intelligence specialists from all these objects are fake. I wish I had more information on what characterizes it are false, and that to learn. A forum is also to learn from those who know.

One problem is that few will offer an opinion on oakleaves because they are so easy to cast, so an in-hand inspection and detailed measurements and weight are crucial.
