    Thanks Dale ....

I had been looking for the full version of this particular issue (later issue) and just not segments for some time .
It is correctly a later copy of the original issue and slightly condensed 95% .

This is as far as I know the original article that was used for that Jewelers magazine . ... with all the pictures .
Even this one is not complete - bottom is missing - not crucial but nice to have in any case . The EK2 and core pictures were dropped in your later article .
The person who posted this one below does not have it complete either - does any one have the bottom part ??

Interesting to note that the full article shows EK2 and an EK1 frame ! ... and indicates both of them being made using the Gablonz method .
And how to tell them apart from conventional manufacturing method ?

One other quit interest thing in the article is ... where it states ... " ... the determination of frame size ..." ??
Would it not naturally be 44x44 ? - or even smaller as to stay within the - 'lets save as much as we can' - concept ?
The method would not include KCs as their was no problem - in keeping up with production .

      Hi Douglas,
I wish I could help you, but that's all I have. Maybe someone will be able to find the missing bottom part for you.

I've always wondered if it's possible to tell the difference between conventional frames and those made using the Gablonz technique. Maybe someone here can tell?

            Hi Dale,

Thanks for posting this interesting thread. As I live in Gablonz and do a research about local producers I will share some my opinions. First I think you are correct that there were many EK2 producers in Gablonz. Not only the 2 that marked their crosses. The problem is that the other producers did not mark the crosses and we can not identify them. Some proofs needed? Here we go:

            1. I have a period newspaper article from 1940 mentioning that there are 5 companies in Gablonz producing the EK2. See bellow the article plus some pictures from the EK2 production in Gablonz. The article is mentioning day production of 2000 pcs of EK2s in Gablonz. 2 Companies could never handle such quantity.

            2. There is another period article (already mentioned) from 1942 about the new production method of EK2 realised by AGMuK Gablonz. AGMuK was a conglomerate of more companies in Gablonz that participated on the production of war badges. The members of the conglomerate that I can confirm rigt now are:

            Adolf Scholze
            Eduard Görlach u Söhne
            Franz Klamt
            Josef Rücker & Sohn
            Julius Pietsch
            R. A. Karnneth
            Rudolf Bergs

You can see that many of this names appear in Dale’s list. See bellow better picture of the complete article. I am sure some of this companies really made EK2s.

            3. To show you how the companies in Gablonz cooperated together I would like to present you another Arbeitsgemeinschaft (conglomerate) that produced EK2s in Gablonz. The name of this conglomerate is „ Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kukan „ and was founded by the company Rudolf Geisler in Kukan. Kukan was formerly a suburb, now a part of Gablonz. See bellow some documents. The first one is a letter where Mr. Geisler is announcing to all neigbour companies that his Arbeitsgemeinschaft did receive large order for production of EK2s from Prezidialkanzlei. And he is inviting this companies to participate on the production. The other document is even more interesting – it is a pricelist of diverse production steps made by the production of EK2. This pricelist was issued by Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kukan for company Walter und Henlein. This clearly shows the close cooperation – we can see that even the big indipendent company as Walter und Henlein sourced some production steps or items outside.....

            4. The last pictures are showing my personal founds on a place where Walter und Henleins products were dumped after the war. You can see some items that he produced. Rims cores and rings for EKs also many inside cut outs from the EK rims. Last picture shows semi finished part of EK2 – just the rims before placing the core and receiving the surface finish.

Hope that this details are interesting for you and will demonstrate a little bit how close the Gablonz companies cooperated together.

            Best regards from Gablonz
            Pavel

                        Hello Pavel!
Thank you for sharing these documents and findings of yours with us. This is is very interesting indeed, opens some more questions and more to research, when we seem to have some kind of proof that there are more EK producers in that area.
It will be interesting to see what will be detected or found.

This certanly is something Douglas will be interested of

                        Best regards,
                        Daniel

                          Very interesting indeed .
Going over the articles it appears to be a lot of sub contractors producing EK parts and or the EK for 1 or 2 licenced companies - which in the end submitted the finished product to the PKZ . As the picture shows - with that many people they must have had rotating company shifts participating in the EK production and all the other awards they were making .

Thanks Pavel, I knew you would have more info that anyone else. When it comes to Gablonz, you are the man!
