    Opinions needed on brass EK1

    Hi all,

I have options on this EK1 with brass core. The seller claims that it's a 'Schinkel'. I think it's a normal EK1, because it doesn't have the characteristic narrow arms we normally see on Schinkel types. What are your overall opinions about this EK1?

    Thanks, Thomas

You may compare it to a Wactler maker 100. Look for the rim shrink.

          Hi Frank & Mikael,

Thanks for your opinions on this EK1.

Mikael I first didn't know what you meant with 'look at the rim shrink', but I found out and see the resemblance in the rim of this cross and a waechtler & Lange. Thanks

          Regards, Thomas

              Ek1

It's a very nice EK1. I have one just like it, or very close. I don't believe this to be a Schinkel.

I have wondered how unusual the brass core EKI is compared to its iron core counterpart. Is it like 1:10, 1:20? Perhaps an experienced EKI collector can fill me in. Thanks.

Maybe 1:10 most off them was made early in the war. Then it was probithed to use any else than iron for the cores. But some think that late in the war there was makers ho did use zink for the cores, maybe as a result off short supply off iron.

Brass core EKs have been made between 1939 - 1941 after that period iron was definitely regulate by law.

                      Hi,

I bought the cross, and would like to know who you think is the maker. I don't think that it's a Rudolf Wachtler & Lange, like Mikael has suggested, because it has a different date, pin and catch. I looked at all the EK1's on the home page and could not find one that really looks like this cross.

                      I appreciate all comments.

                      Regards, Thomas

Is there a small pimp just out side the rim on the top arm?
