Strange question about EK's

Hello my friends, I have a strange question heren that you might not hear everyday.

once again I need to bow in front of your wisdom here.
I have had a long time this iron cross here (actually my first iron cross) and it has been cleaned. I love rich patina on these crosses, so how could I repatinate my unmarked Deschler & Sohn witjhout harming it in any way?

The safest and best way is to do absolutely nothing to it and just let time do the rest. Don't seal it up in a case but rather leave it exposed to the air (as long as the environment is not too humid).

I have added a nice dark patina to a repro silver RK years ago using boiled eggs! The sulphur oxidises the silver creating patina, but I would be extremely reluctant to do it to a genuine cross - then again, I don't know how this would work with your Deschler as the frames are not silver.
But, believe me, if you mess with it now, you will probably regret it later.

It all depends on the surrounding air, but patience will pay off.

I have also heard of people using liver of sulphur to add patina to jewellery etc., the silver will eventually turn black in its presence, but again, I strongly recommend doing nothing to it. It is a fine cross that has been cleaned - this was mistake number 1, don't be tempted to make mistake number 2!!

I agree. There are things you can do, but patina is beloved because it's "real." Adding a new patina will just double up on the artificiality.

Rather than mess with it why not consider selling it and using the funds realised to purchase another with the desired patina.

I want to keep it as my first iron cross.

Considering the vast numbers of these on the marker why not just get the little guy a brother with what you consider the correct amount of patina?

I have some iron crosses, but that is my only Deschler & Sohn I have.
If I would find an other one I would be satisfied, but D&S is not so easy to find (I would still keep this current cross if I found an other Deschler)

Place it on an indoor window sill where it will get plenty of sunshine. It will naturally patinate faster than if it is in the dark.
