Ek1 is a bit of a mystery. Back is pure S&L but the front is Meybauer. I wonder if it is a Frankenstein? The ek2 is a glorious example!

      Hi Max,
The EK1 is non-magnetic, it also has a copper coated core as can be seen on the swastika and the figure 1 in the date, (or maybe not due to my photography skills)
also I thought maybe the last figure 9 in the date may have given away its identity due to it being quite close to the beading,
does anyone else have any theories ?

      Kind Regards

      Phil

IMO this is a good early S&L with non magnetic cooper inner core.

I would say a plated zinc core . I wonder if it has been taken apart ?

                  Hi Guys,
I have cleaned the crud from the core with a light brushing (which came away quite easily to a fine dust) to try and finally get to the bottom of what this, I will not be too disappointed if the cross is not legit, but I would like to know exactly what it is so I can either keep it or bin it,
I have put some more images up for your approval, thanks for your time and efforts with this, I really do appreciate your input Guys,
But I can't believe after 300 hits on this thread I am still non the wiser,

                  Kind Regards

                        Possibly this might help .
The frame is upside down ... now the jump ring placement indicator is up top .

This position indicator is for EK2s of course -- and same frame here used for an EK1 ....

In my opinion also this is a postwar EK1.
                            Best regards,
