Iron Cross Spange - is it real?

I would sincerely appreciate any opinions as to the authenticity of this spange. Thanks.

    Nope.

It has nothing to do with a Juncker clasp.

These clasps are sometimes found with a raised L/14 mark, some do believe these are authentic.

I wouldn't jump the gun so fast on this as I posted one I have marked L/12 also, a number of years ago and if I remember correctly the concensus was not made by Junker but possibly by another firm and marked with Junkers mark. I'm not home right now to inspect mine to see if it is identical to yours. Will have to try and find that thread...Jeff

          Hi Jeff,
Over the years concensus on some items has changed.
I have never believed that this clasp is original, markef or unmarked.
But that is just my opinion.

          Best regards,
          Ben

That L/12 mark is not original .

I am one who believes that these can be authentic. Here is one, unmarked, of this design that I believe is good (and I've seen others):

However I have never seen one marked L/12 that I accept.
              Best regards,

Ben and Douglas you are most likely correct about the L/12 mark itself, but I agree with Streptile that the clasp itself may be original and the mark added, when who knows?...Jeff
