    Rare? EKII on dealers website

    Can anyone I.D. this EKII?

    http://www.antiquewarbooty.com/shop.php

Not been able to identify this cross.
In good condition Iron cross 2nd class with full length ribbon. Cross is non magnetic.
Whats very interesting is the fact it has been cut down
at the center of the frame so that it fits to the swastika. I have never encoutered this on any iron crosses i have ever had.
Also at the top were the loop is you can see a raised bump. Also never encountered before.
Please contact me with any information if you know what maker this cross is

I don't quite understand what he means by saying it's been cut down?

I guess he means the inner corners of the frame have been trimmed back to accommodate the swastika.

Yes that's it. These have been discussed here before I think?

I'm not sure if it's been specifically discussed before, but it was reasonably common. On the Übergröße, it's the norm, but other makers also did it more or less.

I wouldn't have thought of mentioning it as a selling-point in an ad, and I don't believe that EK2 is particularly rare.

He's certainly no medal expert ... he's id'd a Memel ribbon as an 'Italian award'

By the way, he just listed a stolen item that might be worth keeping an eye out for.

Just noticed the cross costs about $700.

                      That price tag ... ?

Correct ... various makers filed corners on regular EKs and even Knight crosses --- like this S&L KC shows -- uncommon for this grade and maker .
Not sure it was even needed to be filed ?
