I never heard the term "K&D" fake before, but I think this is one we have called "German Fake" before. I'd like to see better photos but I agree that it doesn't look promising.

This was purchased as a set about 10 yrs ago at the SOS, I paid alot for it,, sure looks good,,I remember the guys face but not his name, I had wrote down what I paid for it at the time in my log book,, Here's a pic of the inside of the case.
