    Spanish Cross Opinions

Hi All Opinions would be most welcome on this Spanish Cross with Swords in Silver? I believe it to be original but think it has been cleaned? What are your thoughts and how does this affect its value?
    Thank you
    Steve

              Hi Steve,

I tend to agree that it looks original, but very heavily polished. Not just cleaned, but really polished (blitzed) down where alot of the detail has been rubbed away. Sometimes that is a sign of fakes trying to remove the casting cavities and such, but I like the look of the reverse hardware and soldering of the eagles, etc. so I tend to think it is just a heavily polished original.

              Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I agree with Tom. A former fine original cross which has been chemical cleaned. You can spot several white traces near the setup and inside the swords.
                Best regards, Andreas

                  Thanks Guys

Thank you so much Tom and Andreas! I value your opinions and believe the same to be true. Can I surmise that it is in fact an unmarked Juncker piece? As for Tom's assesment yes the only places they didn't buff it up were the edges where there is still nice darkened patina present and no sign of casting seams of any kind, it is such a shame that people do this but optimistically it is an original piece. Any other opinions from other cross enthusiasts? Opinions are free!

Sorry guys but I have my doubts about this one. It looks to me a lot like the fake "CEJ" Spanish Cross in Bronze.

The stippled finish is poor, the hinge block looks too big and the catch is not bevelled.

I would be interested to hear what Hansgünther has to say about it.

                      Me too

So would I whoever he may be? The more opinions the better. It has been offered to me and I just want to be sure before I purchase it.

                      Thanks
                      Steve

Hansgünther disappeared after the last discussion, I think. He did well. It's a shame....

                          Hello,

I think the piece for a copy.

Between the cross arms are no traces saw. Everything speaks for a Cast coppy.

Adler and especially the cross surface.

Yes, and I know many people think something else.

                          Is just my opinion.

Here are two pictures that show more than 1000 words.
