EK 2s with upper arm humps

As a result of a PM back and forth today I came up with the following list of EK 2 manufacturers which feature a "hump" in the center of the top arm where the small ribbon ring is attached. Can anybody else name any others?

Deschler
Juncker
Deumer
Berg & Nolte
Wachtler & Lange
some Schinkel-form crosses
"Round 3" crosses

On my "23" the small ring is sitting fairly high on the frame, but I don't think that it actually has a hump.

You are right George. That is soldering showing from a ring sitting high up. Not a hump at all.

This is interesting. A few crosses have these humps. These "23" crosses do not have a hump by the looks of it, but still the ring sits high up.

Why did they like to put the ring so high up ? Even when there is nearly nothing to solder it against. What is the benefit by doing so ?
