An orange ribbon EK? Interesting variation, I've never seen one before! Is it an early coloration, or just one manufacturer going out on their own?

I heard orange ribbons were early but not sure where that story comes fromit may just be a variation. One thing I do know is orange ribbons are also found with KvKs & KvMs as well as with EKs

        Cheers

Had heard that they were early ribbons as well. My cross has one of these ribbons. RC

I agree that they were early variations. I have seen them on unmarked crosses and early medal bars.

And I have heard the orange ribbons were belived to be made by K&Q.

                IMO
They are just ribbons where the red have lost a little bit of color, or they have always been that way, due to thin die color when the ribbons were colored. Nothing more or nothing less. There is no specific ribbon maker or no specific time period to these ribbons.

I agree in that its likely just a bad die job or something similar. I used to think that some of these were a case of sun fading - but I have seen both pink and orange ribbons on medal bars where pulling back the bar construction shows that the color can be consistent - pink or orange all the way, not just where its been exposed.

I agree with Stefano - EK2 is "75" unknown maker

                        Looks like a 75 um .

EK2 ribbons can be from dull to bright red , orange , mix of red orange and all the way to gold yellow .
Yes the exposed surface does fades - but the back shows the true color .
