    Question about EK1 (no photos)

sorry, i have no photos of the cross but maybe someone still can answer my question.
I was offered a EK1 yesterday. I know there are so many makers of the cross but this one made me wonder...

The cross was quite dome shaped (like the WWI ones) the black looked more shiny and not dull...and on the back of the cross (when needle was lifted) there was a 5 or 6 digit long number..like 25836 or similar....any ideas??

Sounds like a Feldpost number. Was it engraved? Or scratched in?

IF the cross is real, it may represent the unit the man was with when awarded. If not, lots of fakes have that sort of thing to try and bump the "value".

    But without photos, who knows?

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.

yes, without photos its hard to say anything for sure.....no it was stamped in..did not look like a selfmade scratch job.

But this tells me that it was not a known variant amongst collectors...I just thought it maybe was a scarce type or maker that i havent heard or seen yet...seems not so.
