Knights Cross Award Document in Folder for evaluation. Ritterkreuzmappe...

    Hello to everyone!

I would be happy to hear from the WAF members about this Knights Cross award document in folder by Frieda Thiersch, to the Hauptmann (Captain) Hermann Hehmeyer. I am interested on it, are really these documents rarer than a KC?? How much would worth this one in such a good condition?

    Many thanks in advance!

I cannot comment on price, but, I have seen more RK's then presentation documents. Mind you I haven't looked that hard as I always prefer the actual RK over the doc.

I'd say approx. EUR 13,000 - 15,000 for this example.

IMO this very doc was not hand signed by Hitler personally, but rather by his caligrapher. AH would not have had the time, nor nerves to handsign these as the war progressed.

The formal award documents are far more rare than the physical awards.

Physical awards are overrated price-wise, while the docs are under-valued up to the diamonds IMO.

      Cheers,
      Markus

I don't like the Gold 'bleed' of the ink on the red binder portion. There is a place
in Canada "thirdreich.ca" that was offering these cassettes & documents that
were stipulated to be "exactly like the originals" for under $1,000.00 & some
where illustrated on the site & looked really good in the photos shown.

What you are showing just might be one of these & I say this because of the
'bleeding' of the Gold ink on the cassette shown.

For sure less documents then awards on the market always. Over or under priced? That's a whole diferent story

This particular KC document was auctioned in HH before( see attached ).
See similar " bleeding" at another genuine KC document to Schwarzmann.
I do not think any problem with these 2 KC documents.

Hi Ron, thank you for your comment. This one was offered to me by Helmut Weitze, who is probably the best and most serious dealer in German Militaria worldwide, so it should be 100% genuine and not a fake or a later copy, as suggested by you...

It was indeed an excellent price for such rare item... Helmut's price is now 13.000.

P.S. I just found the lot at HH past auctions. It actually sold for 8000 plus buyer's premium of 1840€, making so the total of 9840...

                              Hi Ralf -

Yes, but the dealer has overhead costs of course. Rent, employees, financing, travel expenses, etc. pp.

For such items, I prefer to pay premium from dealers.

Once the value of the transaction increases I want a firm partner I can trust in the middle and like to pay for this service. There are so many private transactions going "sour" for all sorts of reasons, bad packing, wrong shipping, people getting paid and then disappear....no need for that when you pay EUR 10,000++ for an item. Personally I sleep better paying EUR 1-2k EUR or more premium to a trusted dealer, depending to the overall value of the transaction.

In my experience in the long run you get good deals with dealers too. First look at things, flexibility on prices, etc. Simply more win-win. Above all no hazzles. Don't forget that many-a-times collectors in the more premium segment have more money than time/nerves. That's a sad reality for these individuals. They just want to order, no networking, hazzles, etc.

                              Amen.

                              Cheers!

                              Markus
